On Wednesday 26th September in the Whitechapel Art Gallery, Digital Sizzle hosted an evening of food, beer and good company from creative disciplines in London’s growing tech start-up industry and arts scene. A 48 hour hackathon in the Mozilla HQ, Central London, preceded the event, challenging 50 of the best digital artists and musicians in London to produce works of art on data and networking themes.
With an attendance of over 500 hungry viewers, the first prize on the opening night went to ‘Real Weather’ a real time physical display of the wind, rain and temperature in different locations across the globe. Honourable mentions and first Prize by the Judges go to See Thru Planet the ‘inside’ of the planet depending on your precise geographical location on an iPad and the GAIA, constellation images of TFL London’s intercity bus networks on a CAD screen.
The 3breards (Michael Hobson, Bryce Keane and Joe Scarboro) cooked up the Hackathon and distributed free tickets on a first come first served basis to make tech and art accessible to all.
